ICANN takes drastic measures against RegisterFly
IMPORTANT: Domain holders need to obtain their auth-code before the 31st of March to be able to transfer their domains to their new registrar.
On the 16th of March ICANN issued a notice to RegisterFly, that it will revoke their Accreditation as they were not complying with the norms set out for Accredited Registrars. ICANN declared that it was distressed and frustrated by RegisterFly recent management confusion that provoked thousands of complaints from the domain name holders.
As a result ICANN instructed RegisterFly to unlock and provide all necessary auth code to allow the transfer of all its registered domain names. All ex RegisterFly clients have till the 31st of March which will be the last day of activity of the company as an accredited Registrar to obtain such auth code.
This is one of the very rare occasions were ICANN has taken such measures against a Registrar and this situation has created confusion to the grieved customers and the Registrars’ community. In order to avoid any complications that might arise after the termination date (31st of March) ICANN recommends the domain holders to get the auth code and transfer their domains as soon as possible to an accredited and trusted registrar.
